Summary / Objective
The Talent Acquisition Specialist – Critical Operations (Japan) is responsible for supporting end-to-end recruitment and onboarding activities across STACK Infrastructure's Japan operations, with a focus on technical, engineering, and operational roles supporting data centre and critical infrastructure environments.
The role partners closely with hiring managers, site leaders, and operational stakeholders to attract, assess, hire, and onboard talent across electrical, mechanical, controls, facilities management, and critical operations disciplines.
This position provides practical exposure to Japan's recruitment landscape, workforce planning, labour compliance requirements, stakeholder engagement, and talent acquisition processes within a high-performance operational environment.
The role plays a critical part in supporting STACK's continued growth in Japan, ensuring the organisation attracts and retains highly skilled professionals who uphold STACK's commitment to operational excellence, safety, customer service, and 100% uptime.
Essential Functions
Technical Recruitment & Talent Sourcing
· Support end-to-end recruitment activities for technical and operational positions including electrical technicians, mechanical/HVAC technicians, controls specialists, critical facilities engineers, project managers, and data centre operations staff.
· Develop sourcing strategies targeting candidates from the data centre, critical infrastructure, construction, industrial, engineering, utilities, telecommunications, and manufacturing sectors.
· Build and maintain candidate pipelines through recruitment agencies, job boards, professional networks, employee referrals, universities, technical colleges, vocational institutions, and industry associations across Japan.
· Conduct candidate screening, interview coordination, reference checks, and recruitment administration activities.
· Develop working knowledge of Japanese technical certifications, electrical and engineering qualifications, trade licensing requirements, and workforce compliance obligations relevant to technical recruitment.
· Maintain accurate recruitment records and candidate data within ATS and HR systems in accordance with company policies and applicable privacy requirements.
Workforce Planning & Onboarding Coordination
· Support workforce planning initiatives associated with business growth, new facility developments, and operational expansion across Japan.
· Collaborate with hiring managers to understand workforce requirements, technical competencies, and candidate suitability criteria.
· Coordinate interviews, candidate communications, offer management, onboarding activities, employment documentation, and new hire inductions.
· Support onboarding and training processes to ensure employees are successfully integrated into STACK's technical and operational, customer-focused, and safety-driven culture.
· Contribute to workforce initiatives that strengthen operational capability, succession planning, and long-term talent pipelines.
Candidate Management & Stakeholder Engagement
· Deliver a professional and positive candidate experience throughout the recruitment lifecycle.
· Conduct screening interviews and assist hiring managers with competency-based and behavioural assessments.
· Coordinate interviews, site visits, technical assessments, onboarding activities, and recruitment communications.
· Provide regular recruitment updates, market insights, and candidate feedback to hiring managers and stakeholders.
· Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders, external recruitment partners, educational institutions, and industry networks.
Recruitment Operations & Compliance
· Support recruitment and onboarding activities in accordance with Japanese labour legislation, employment regulations, company policies, and compliance requirements.
· Coordinate pre-employment checks including employment eligibility verification, reference checks, qualification and licence validation, medical assessments (where applicable), and onboarding documentation.
· Assist with recruitment reporting, candidate tracking, onboarding progress updates, and maintenance of recruitment metrics.
· Utilise ATS and HR systems to support recruitment administration, onboarding coordination, reporting, and process improvement initiatives.
Compliance, Governance & Reporting
· Ensure recruitment activities comply with Japan's Labour Standards Act, Equal Employment Opportunity regulations, personal data protection requirements, and other applicable employment legislation.
· Maintain accurate recruitment records, reports, dashboards, and workforce analytics to support business planning and operational reporting.
· Monitor recruitment processes to ensure consistency, fairness, and adherence to internal governance requirements.
People & Culture
· Champion STACK's values of safety, integrity, operational excellence, customer focus, and teamwork throughout all recruitment activities.
· Promote a diverse, inclusive, and high-performance culture across technical and operational teams.

· Contribute to building a cohesive culture across both shift-based critical operations teams and corporate support functions.
Work Environment / Conditions
· Primarily based onsite at STACK Infrastructure facilities and offices in Japan.
· Combination of office-based, site-based, and stakeholder-facing activities within a fast-paced operational environment.
Travel Requirements
· Occasional domestic travel within Japan to support recruitment activities, workforce planning initiatives, and operational requirements.
· Limited international travel may be required from time to time within the APAC region.
Required Education, Experience & Skills
Essential
· Experience in recruitment, talent acquisition, workforce coordination, onboarding, HR administration, or candidate sourcing activities.
· Strong communication and stakeholder management skills in a multicultural business environment.
· Ability to manage multiple recruitment activities and competing priorities within a fast-paced environment.
· Interest in technical, engineering, facilities management, critical infrastructure, or data centre recruitment.
· Experience using recruitment systems, ATS platforms, HRIS solutions, or onboarding tools.
· Professional proficiency in Japanese and business-level English.
Preferred
· Experience recruiting within data centres, engineering, construction, manufacturing, critical infrastructure, facilities management, or technology environments.
· Understanding of Japanese labour legislation, hiring practices, onboarding requirements, and employment documentation.
· Familiarity with ATS and HR platforms such as Greenhouse, Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, SmartHR, HRMOS, or equivalent systems.
· Bachelor's degree or relevant qualifications in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or a related field.
Development & Learning
· Develop expertise in technical recruitment within Japan's rapidly growing data centre and digital infrastructure sector.
· Gain exposure to workforce planning, talent market intelligence, labour compliance, and operational workforce management.
· Receive mentorship from People & Culture and operational leaders across Japan and the wider APAC region.
· Build knowledge of technical certifications, engineering career pathways, critical operations workforce structures, and talent acquisition best practices.
· Enhance capability in stakeholder management, recruitment analytics, workforce reporting, and strategic talent planning.
