About Bedrock Talent

At Bedrock Talent, we don't try to recruit for every company.

We partner with founders we'd personally work for, teams we'd genuinely recommend to our closest friends, and companies solving problems that matter. Our clients tend to share a few things in common: they're ambitious without ego, deeply thoughtful about what they're building, and obsessed with creating products that have a real impact.

We're excited to be partnering with one of those companies today.

About the Company

Our client is a confidential, seed-stage healthcare technology startup building software that will fundamentally improve how neurological care is delivered.

While the company is still operating in stealth, they've built an exceptional founding team, have strong early momentum, and are solving a meaningful problem in one of healthcare's most underserved specialties.

Because they're still building a competitive advantage, we're keeping the search relatively selective and confidential.

About the Opportunity

This is a staff engineer role and an opportunity to join early enough that your technical decisions will shape the product, the engineering culture and long-term direction of the company.

You'll work directly alongside the founders and a small team of exceptional engineers to build the platform from the ground up.

A Few Things You Should Know Up Front

Rather than bury these details halfway through a job description, here's what usually determines whether someone gets excited about this opportunity—or realizes it isn't the right fit.

Five Days a Week in NYC

This is an in-office team.

Not because anyone wants to micromanage you, but because the founders genuinely believe that building an early-stage company is one of the most collaborative things you can do. They enjoy working together, solving hard problems together, and believe those early years are better experienced side-by-side.

If you love being around smart teammates and feeding off that energy, you'll probably enjoy it here.

Seed Stage Means Real Ownership

You'll receive meaningful equity and have the opportunity to influence nearly every technical decision.

It also means embracing ambiguity, moving quickly, and occasionally building without a perfect roadmap.

This role isn't for everyone—and that's okay.

Work That Matters

Healthcare software doesn't have to be boring.

This team is tackling a genuinely difficult problem in neurology with the potential to improve care for both patients and providers. If you're motivated by building products that create measurable impact, you'll find plenty of purpose here.

You're Joining a Team, Not Starting One

You won't be Engineer #1.

You'll join a small but incredibly talented engineering team that's already shipping product. You'll have the opportunity to lead technically, mentor where appropriate, and help shape what comes next.

Exceptional Founders

This is probably my favorite part.

I've spent more than a decade recruiting for startups and have worked with hundreds of founders. Every so often, you meet a team that simply has what I call good bones.

They're thoughtful. They're humble. They're ambitious without being performative. They're building intentionally, care deeply about their people, and are exactly the type of founders I'd happily bet my own career on.

Those opportunities don't come around very often.

What You'll Do

  • Design and build core platform capabilities using Node.js and TypeScript

  • Own architectural decisions that will support long-term scale

  • Collaborate closely with founders, product, and design on product direction

  • Mentor engineers through technical leadership while remaining hands-on

  • Help establish engineering best practices and shape team culture

  • Ship software that directly improves the lives of healthcare providers and patients

Tech Stack

  • TypeScript

  • Node.js

  • AWS

  • Modern web technologies

You Might Be a Great Fit If You...

  • Love building from zero to one.

  • Enjoy solving ambiguous technical problems.

  • Want meaningful ownership instead of simply maintaining existing systems.

  • Care about craftsmanship as much as shipping.

  • Believe the best companies are built by small teams of exceptional people working closely together.

This Probably Isn't the Right Fit If...

  • You're looking for a fully remote role.

  • You prefer large organizations with established processes.

  • You want highly defined requirements before you begin building.

  • You're looking primarily for management rather than hands-on engineering.

Interested?

If reading this made you think, "That sounds like my kind of company," we'd love to have a conversation.

Even if the timing isn't perfect, we're always happy to connect with exceptional engineers building meaningful technology.
