Which tech companies are hiring fastest right now?

Defense and aerospace, mostly. In the 28 days to June 30, two companies pulled away from the field: Anduril Industries added +370 net new openings and SpaceX +365. Those are the headline numbers, and they're not close to anyone else. Anduril is now sitting on 1,661 active roles in our direct-apply data; SpaceX on 1,541. When two outfits each carry north of 1,500 open postings and are still opening faster than they close, that's a particular kind of scaling posture.

One clarification before the numbers run away with anyone. This report measures the direct-apply slice — roles we collect daily from companies' own Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby boards — and ranks by net new openings: roles opened minus roles closed over 28 days. That's a hiring-velocity signal, not a headcount or revenue read. A company with +124 net isn't necessarily bigger than one with +80; it's moving its board faster right now. Market-wide, we logged 18,053 roles opened against 12,266 closed — a net of +5,787 across all tracked niches. Healthy, broad-based churn with a clear hiring lean.

Where is the hiring growth concentrating?

Two places: things that fly, and AI/ML. The defense-aerospace cluster is the loudest story in the top 25. Beyond Anduril and SpaceX, you've got Shield AI (+129), ICEYE (+115), Zipline (+104), BETA Technologies (+103), Rocket Lab (+84), Relativity (+83) and ARX Robotics (+78). That's eight aerospace/defense/drone names in the top 20 alone. If you build hardware that leaves the ground or supports something that does, you're hiring.

The robotics edge of that cluster is worth pulling out. ARX Robotics and Humanoid (+66) both show a pattern that recurs at the bottom of this list: 78 opened, 78 active, +78 net for ARX; 69 opened, 66 active, +66 for Humanoid. Near-zero closures. These are young, fast-filling boards — a company spinning up most of its open roles inside the window rather than steadily backfilling. Treat those as fresh hiring sprints, the kind that can close as quickly as they opened.

By niche, AI/ML led everything at +1,571 net new roles, well ahead of full-stack (+1,107), DevOps and infra (+818), product (+762) and data (+670). Security added +357, design +291. The one negative line: mobile, at -131. Net mobile postings shrank this month. If you're a mobile specialist, the broad market is leaning away from you right now — worth knowing before you spend a month applying into a contracting niche.

What's driving the AI/ML and infrastructure demand?

The compute and model layer shows up clearly. Nscale ranks third overall at +197 net new openings — the highest non-aerospace mover on the board, and a name most job-seekers won't have on their radar yet. OpenAI added +117 (679 active roles), Anthropic +72, Snowflake +63 and Cloudflare +70. The frontier-model labs are still opening faster than closing, but the more striking velocity is in the infrastructure underneath them — the compute providers and data platforms. That maps onto the +818 in DevOps/infra and +670 in data.

Which fintech companies are hiring?

A tight, fast-moving group. Checkout.com is the standout at +163 net new openings — fourth overall and the top fintech mover by a wide margin, with 215 roles opened in the window. Plaid (+97), Coinbase (+80) and insurance-tech marketplace BJAK (+102) round it out. Plaid's profile is the sprint shape again — 111 opened, 99 active — so it's expanding off a comparatively lean base.

What about the EV and mobility names?

Two automakers cracked the top seven. Scout Motors added +126 net new openings and Rivian +124. Rivian's 156-opened / 124-active mix means most of those postings are recent — another board filling quickly rather than grinding through a long backlog. For engineers who want to build vehicles without going to a pure-software shop, these two are the clearest signals this month.

Who else is worth a job-seeker's attention?

A few names that don't fit a neat cluster but are moving: Gen Digital (+96) and Hostinger (+93) in consumer software and hosting, ASM (+73) in semiconductor equipment, and Encora (+67), the highest non-staffing services name we kept in. Hostinger's board reads 94 opened, 93 active, +93 — effectively a from-scratch hiring push inside the window.

The takeaway if you're deciding where to apply

If you build for aerospace, defense or robotics, this is your month — Anduril, SpaceX, Shield AI, ICEYE, Zipline and Rocket Lab are all opening faster than they close, and several of the smaller names (BETA, ARX, Humanoid) are filling brand-new boards where early applicants face less backlog. Two cautions. Mobile postings shrank net this month (-131), so plan accordingly. And the sprint-shape companies — the ones where opened ≈ active with near-zero closures — can cool as fast as they heated up, so move quickly rather than bookmarking them. Track who's accelerating and who's stalling on the movers page; velocity changes faster than any monthly snapshot can capture.
