IT Project Manager

The Role

This role is not focused on infrastructure, networks, cybersecurity or end-user support.

Instead, you will partner with business stakeholders across Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, HR, Quality, Engineering and other functions to understand their needs, translate them into IT initiatives and ensure alignment with Wabtec's global application strategy.

You will play a key role in identifying whether a business need can be addressed through existing global solutions or requires the initiation of a new IT project. When necessary, you will lead pre-project assessments, evaluate feasibility, build business cases and coordinate project execution.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work on a wide range of business and digital transformation topics within a global industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

Business Partnership & Demand Management

• Act as the primary IT contact for business stakeholders across multiple functions.
• Understand operational challenges and identify opportunities where technology can create value.
• Challenge and refine business requests to ensure clear objectives and expected outcomes.
• Translate business requirements into structured IT initiatives.

Solution Assessment & IT Roadmap Alignment

• Review incoming requests against existing global Wabtec applications, platforms and ongoing programs.
• Identify opportunities to leverage existing solutions rather than creating local developments.
• Coordinate the handover of requests to global IT teams when a suitable solution already exists.

Pre-Project Analysis & Feasibility Studies

• Lead discovery workshops with stakeholders.
• Conduct preliminary assessments

Project Management

• Manage the Project in line with our IT PMO structure and process
• Highlight issues and call for action in case of unresolved strategic topics that put projects on hold.

Preferred Background

Education

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.

Experience

• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in IT Project Management, Business Applications, Business Analysis or IT Business Relationship Management.
• Experience within a manufacturing, industrial or operations-driven environment is strongly preferred.
• Proven experience translating business requirements into digital or software-based solutions.
• Experience working with ERP, MES, Supply Chain, HR, Finance or other business applications.
• Experience managing feasibility studies, business cases and application deployment projects.
