AI Engineer - Tieto Banktech (m/f/d)

We are looking for an AI Engineer to join our Mobile team in Front&Advisory in Tieto Banktech. Tieto Banktech powers some of the Nordics’ most trusted banking systems with secure, reliable, and scalable solutions. Using automation, data, AI, and cloud, supported by hands-on guidance, we help banks modernize their core, strengthen trust, and deliver greater impact across the banking experience.

This is a hands-on engineering role with a strong backend focus. You will help us design, build and operate the cloud services, APIs and integrations behind AI-enabled mobile banking experiences. Tieto Banktech is on a strategic journey to embed artificial intelligence at the core of our products and engineering practices. You will work closely with mobile developers, backend engineers, designers and product managers to turn relevant AI opportunities into secure, reliable and valuable capabilities for banks and their customers. 

When joining Tieto Banktech as an AI Engineer you will 

• Work in a cross-functional autonomous Mobile team with ownership of a well-defined domain 

• Identify where AI can create real value in mobile banking products and engineering practices 

• Shape practical patterns, architectures and best practices for secure and reliable AI-enabled solutions 

• Use AI-assisted workflows to understand, analyse and modernise existing technology 

• Help teams evaluate new tools and adopt AI-supported workflows across development, testing and operations 

• Take solutions from prototype to production, including architecture, integration, testing and operational readiness 

• Continuously improve solutions with a focus on quality, security, performance, reliability, observability and cost 

Who we are looking for 

• Software development: Minimum five years of experience developing and operating production software. 

• Data analysis and applied AI: Experience analysing and interpreting data, identifying meaningful patterns and opportunities, and applying machine learning and AI technologies to create practical business value. 

• Backend engineering: Experience with object-oriented development, APIs, integrations and scalable service architectures. 

• CI/CD and operations: Experience with automated delivery, monitoring, observability and production troubleshooting. 

• Security and privacy: Experience with secure data handling and the responsible use of AI in regulated environments. 

You are a collaborative and pragmatic engineer who takes ownership and enjoys solving complex problems. You are comfortable working across disciplines and can connect technical decisions with customer value, security, privacy and regulatory expectations in banking. 

It is a bonus if you have experience with 

• Java and Spring or Spring Boot, Python 

• OpenShift or Kubernetes, Git, GitHub Actions and Grafana 

• Experience wih design, development and maintenance of backend services, APIs and integrations 

• Large language model integration, context and prompt design, and evaluation of AI outputs 

• Retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, vector databases or related retrieval patterns 

• Agentic workflows, function calling or AI orchestration frameworks
