Principal Product Manager - Payments Platform

We are hiring a Principal Product Manager – Payment Orchestration & Connectivity to help build the intelligence and connectivity at the core of Flywire's global payments platform.

This is a senior, highly influential individual-contributor role for a payments-platform leader who understands how to connect, route, and optimize money movement across card networks, processors, acquirers, banks, and global payment rails.

The initial mandate will be to build smart routing and optimization across payment acceptance. The broader charter spans reusable payment connectivity and orchestration capabilities across pay-ins, bank payments, and payouts.

This is a strategic platform role. You will build a connected end to end 3-year vision and strategy across the platform partnering with business, product and technology leaders. You will identify and evaluate opportunities across payment methods, rails, processors, and banks; build the business cases for investment; and advise business and product leaders on the opportunities with the greatest customer and commercial impact. In close partnership with engineering, you will shape the product and architecture strategy for routing, provider connectivity, normalized APIs, and payment lifecycle visibility.

You will turn complex payment economics, performance data, and customer needs into clear priorities and a platform roadmap. Your work will influence multiple product teams and help us build capabilities that scale across markets, business models, and payment flows.

You bring deep experience in payment processing and provider connectivity, including cards and bank payment rails such as ACH or SEPA. You can move between commercial strategy and technical architecture, influence senior stakeholders, and make sound investment decisions amid complexity and ambiguity

What you'll do:

• Strategy & Roadmap: Own the routing and orchestration roadmap, and partner with domain PMs to shape an integrated platform roadmap, connecting shared capabilities, dependencies, and sequencing across acceptance, pricing, onboarding, risk and payouts, and recommending cross-domain tradeoffs.

• Smart Routing: Build intelligent routing that improves authorization performance, reliability, conversion, and processing economics.

• Global Connectivity: Shape scalable connectivity across processors, acquirers, card networks, banks, and rails such as ACH, SEPA, Faster Payments, and other regional payment systems.

• Platform Architecture: Establish normalized payment APIs, lifecycle states, statuses, and provider outcomes across card and bank payments.

• Orchestration: Extend common orchestration capabilities over time across both pay-ins and payouts.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner across Engineering, Data Science, Risk, Treasury, Operations, and Commercial teams to deliver a resilient global payments platform.

Who we're looking for:

• Product Leadership: A senior, hands-on product leader who has built payment-processing, orchestration, routing, connectivity, or gateway platforms at scale.

• Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of the end-to-end movement of money, including acceptance, settlement, refunds, returns, reconciliation, and payouts.

• Integration Experience: Proven track record integrating with processors, acquirers, card networks, banks, and alternative payment providers.

• Payment Rails Knowledge: Strong knowledge of both card payments and bank rails such as ACH, SEPA, Faster Payments, wires, or real-time payment networks.

• Platform & Data Mindset: Strong platform thinking—ability to turn fragmented provider and rail capabilities into consistent, reusable products. Metrics-driven and experienced using data, experimentation, and intelligent decisioning to improve payment performance.

• Influence & Execution: Able to set strategy and drive execution across multiple teams without relying on direct authority.

• Language & Location: Professional fluency in English (written and spoken) is required. Must hold valid work authorization to work in Spain/EU.
