Graduate Engineer – Electrical Engineer

As a Graduate Engineer, you will join our structured Graduate Programme, designed to accelerate your professional development and provide exposure to some of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects, focusing on Energy and Sustainable Projects

You will work alongside experienced engineers and project managers, gaining hands-on experience in design, construction, and delivery phases. Rotations will allow you to explore different disciplines and understand the full lifecycle of major projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Essential

• Good understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals, including three-phase power systems, transformers, electrical machines, protection and electrical safety.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret single-line diagrams, electrical drawings, schematics and technical data.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Competence in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• Ability to manage assigned tasks and work to agreed deadlines.
• Willingness to undertake site visits and travel as required.

• Desirable

• Internship, placement or project experience within an engineering consultancy, utility, contractor, developer or power-sector organisation.
• Exposure to wind, solar PV, BESS, substations or transmission/distribution projects.
• Understanding of MV/HV systems, including cables, transformers, switchgear, protection and earthing.
• Familiarity with DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, PSCAD or similar power-system software.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and electrical layout or SLD preparation.
• Exposure to load-flow, short-circuit, cable-sizing or protection studies.
• Awareness of EirGrid, ESB Networks and the Irish grid-connection environment.
• Awareness of IEC/EN electrical standards.

A full Driving Licience is required

• Level 8 Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering (minimum 2.1) from an accredited institution.
• Level 9 postgraduate qualification in Electrical Power Systems, Renewable Energy or Energy Systems Engineering would be advantageous.
• Degree meeting, or capable of meeting, the academic requirements for progression toward Chartered Engineer status with Engineers Ireland or an equivalent professional institution.
