Electronics Design Engineer

As an Electronics Design Engineer, you will join our Loughborough team to support our activities within the clean energy and advanced technology sector. 

You will be responsible for the design and development of electronic hardware solutions, supporting the delivery of new PCB designs from concept through to release. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will contribute to the creation of innovative products, ensuring designs are robust, manufacturable, and meet project requirements.

• Experience Level: Mid-Junior (2-4 years experience)

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop PCB layouts using Altium Designer
• Support the delivery of new PCB designs through the full product development lifecycle
• Create and maintain schematic designs, PCB layouts, and associated engineering documentation
• Perform design reviews and support PCB design validation activities
• Collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, and test teams to ensure successful product integration
• Support prototype builds, testing, and debugging activities
• Manage engineering changes and maintain accurate design records
• Contribute to continuous improvement activities within the electronics development process

Required Skills:

• Experience designing PCBs using Altium Designer
• Knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layout principles
• Understanding of PCB design for manufacture and assembly (DFM/DFA)
• Experience producing technical documentation and engineering drawings
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Good communication and organisational skills

Required Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
• 2–4 years of experience in electronics design or PCB development
• Experience supporting products through design, development, and validation activities

Desirable Skills:

• Experience supporting prototype build and test activities
• Familiarity with EMC/EMI considerations in PCB design
• Knowledge of analogue and digital circuit design
• Experience within clean energy, automotive, aerospace, or advanced technology sectors
• Understanding of product lifecycle management and engineering change control processes
