Qualifications:

Requires extensive knowledge of machine shop practices usually acquired through extensive on the job training and experience Journeyman (machining) or 8 years equivalent High degree of mechanical aptitude and print reading skills Ability to work independently and to manage one’s time effectively Knowledge/experience with other machines (lathe, mill, CNC set up/programming, surface grind, jig grind) is not required but is beneficial Understanding of individual contribution to the product conformity and product safety The importance of ethical behavior

Responsibilities:

The OD/ID Grinder is responsible for setting-up, operating and tending grinding Grinding applications will span cylindrical grinding, ID grinding & specialized tool/spindle grinding Planning and performing difficult grinding operations which require complicated setups or a high degree of accuracy Determine proper feeds, speeds, tooling and operation sequence or select those prescribed in drawings, blueprints or layouts, using a variety of precision measuring instruments Maintains a workable supply of perishable tools required in the operation of machinery Assists at other machines in Manufacturing when needed

Basic computer skills Detail oriented Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Effective communication skills (oral / written) Ability to multitask No lifting restrictions Ability to work on your feet for extended periods of time
