About the role:
The Banner is looking for an ambitious journalist to cover K-12 education in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
In this role, you’ll focus primarily on Prince George’s County Public Schools while jumping in on breaking news and other assignments as needed. You’ll produce bold, accountability-focused journalism that helps readers understand the district’s challenges and successes and supports more equitable, accessible schools for Prince George’s students, families and residents.
We’re seeking a reporter who can build trust with communities, move beyond routine school board coverage and find compelling stories that help parents and residents make informed decisions.
You’ll develop a strong source network across the education community, including teachers, parents, administrators, school board members, lawmakers and experts, while collaborating with The Banner’s Education Hub, data team and visuals staff.

Additional Information:
Salary Range: $80,000 - $95,000 Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by several factors including experience, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We periodically review all teammates pay to ensure a great compensation package that is fair and equal across the board.
