Senior Software Engineer

The Opportunity

LendingTree is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Insurance technology team and help build, support, and evolve web applications used by our customers and internal teams. You will work across existing and new capabilities, including applications that integrate with third-party services, databases, and user-facing experiences. This role is a strong fit for an engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, working thoughtfully in established and greenfield codebases, and partnering with the business to turn requirements into reliable, maintainable software. Our team primarily works in C#/.NET and modern web technologies, but we are open to engineers from other technical backgrounds who bring strong software engineering fundamentals and can learn and ramp quickly.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Design, develop, and enhance scalable, highly maintainable web applications that support LendingTree's Insurance business, including solutions that integrate with third-party web services, databases, and user-facing interfaces.
• Own and support existing applications through troubleshooting, bug fixes, required upgrades, performance improvements, and thoughtful changes to existing functionality.
• Break down complex business and technical problems and design solutions that are resilient, robust, and practical to maintain over time.
• Translate business requirements and acceptance criteria into well-designed technical solutions, and demonstrate completed features against agreed-upon outcomes.
• Contribute to strong engineering practices through code reviews, testing, documentation, design discussions, and continuous improvement of the development process.
• Collaborate with engineers and business partners on multi-person initiatives, communicating technical ideas and tradeoffs clearly.

Who You’ll Work With

You will be part of the technology team supporting LendingTree's Insurance business, working closely with other engineers and business partners to build and enhance applications that support our customers and internal teams. This is a collaborative environment where engineers are expected to understand the business context behind the work, share ideas openly, participate in code review and technical discussions, and help one another solve problems and deliver high-quality software.

What You'll Bring

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and supporting web applications.
• Experience with a modern object-oriented programming language and web development framework. Our team primarily uses C# and .NET/ASP.NET, but experience with comparable technologies is welcome if you have strong fundamentals and can ramp quickly.
• Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue, or demonstrated ability to learn new frameworks quickly.
• Experience building business applications using relational databases such as SQL Server, with familiarity with database design and data access patterns; exposure to NoSQL databases is helpful.
• Experience building and integrating with service-oriented and event-driven systems, including APIs and third-party integrations.
• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including maintainable design, SOLID principles, design patterns, code review, and unit testing
• .Experience working in an Agile development environment and delivering work against defined requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Ability to understand complex business logic and project requirements and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical partners.
• Provide leadership by contributing to design decisions, team processes, sharing knowledge, mentoring engineers through feedback and code reviews, and identifying opportunities to raise engineering standards across the team.
• Demonstrated experience leveraging AI to design and implement workflows, automation, or other solutions that improve technical processes and/or drive meaningful business outcomes, with the ability to serve as a thought leader and catalyst for AI adoption, innovation, and growth across the organization.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

• Knowledge of current web development practices using HTML5, CSS, and TypeScript is helpful.

The Details

Base Pay: 120,000-160,000

The base pay offered may vary based on internal factors, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible for an annual performance bonus.
