About Bedrock Talent
At Bedrock Talent, we’re deliberate about the organizations we represent. Rather than partnering with every startup, we focus on visionary founders, meaningful missions, and teams committed to building lasting companies. We choose businesses solving significant problems, led by those who create environments where exceptional people can thrive. The result is a client roster we’d proudly join ourselves.
This is one of those opportunities.
About the Company
Our confidential client is a rapidly growing communications and public relations firm working with high-growth startups and established companies across healthcare, biotech, and B2B SaaS. Their team partners closely with founders and executive leadership to develop distinctive narratives, build standout brands, and reach audiences who matter most. Their expertise spans corporate communications, media relations, executive visibility, thought leadership, product launches, funding announcements, and pivotal company milestones.
Intentional about culture, the team prizes accountability, ownership, and speed of execution. With continued growth, they are seeking leaders who can drive client outcomes, develop high-performing teams, and help shape the firm’s operating model.
Details on the company will be shared during the interview process.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an Account Director who can take comprehensive ownership of client strategy, media relations, team performance, and client deliverables.
You will serve as a trusted advisor to founders and senior executives, lead sophisticated client relationships, and develop innovative communications strategies that deliver meaningful media coverage. You will also play a key role in recruiting, managing, and growing the team responsible for this work.
This is a hands-on role—you’ll establish strategy, stay actively involved in execution, maintain high standards for writing and media relations, and create processes that enable the team to operate quickly and consistently.
Ideal candidates bring 8–12 years of communications or PR experience, exposure to healthcare, biotech, or B2B SaaS, and a track record of leading both clients and teams in fast-paced settings.
What Makes This Role Unique
Meaningful Ownership
You will be the primary senior contact for a portfolio of clients, leading strategic discussions, advising executives, setting agendas, managing timelines, and ensuring meticulous follow-through. Deep business understanding—not just awareness of PR calendars—is expected.
Earned Media Focus
This is a proactive media relations role. You will develop story angles, write persuasive pitches, build relationships with media, and secure coverage across healthcare, business, startup, and industry publications.
High Bar for Writing
You will write and edit across multiple formats, from media pitches and press releases to executive bylines, articles, and social content. Every piece must be authentic, impactful, and polished.
Speed with Excellence
Execution speed is an advantage here. You’ll develop the judgment, systems, and discipline needed to deliver excellent work rapidly, making quick, informed decisions and identifying the critical path to move clients and teams forward.
Key Responsibilities
Client Strategy
Develop and drive integrated PR strategies tailored to each client’s market, stage, and goals.
Serve as the senior strategic advisor on accounts, guiding clients on positioning and media approaches.
Translate business priorities into actionable communications plans spanning earned media, content, executive visibility, and thought leadership.
Identify and capitalize on timely opportunities related to industry developments and breaking news.
Expand the scope and strategic value of client engagements.
Media Relations
Lead proactive outreach to healthcare, biotech, business, technology, and relevant trade media.
Write story angles, pitches, press releases, and supporting assets.
Build and maintain key relationships with reporters, editors, analysts, and influencers.
Prepare executives for interviews and high-stakes media moments.
Track results and refine strategy based on performance.
Client Leadership
Serve as the senior contact for your client portfolio.
Lead calls, establish agendas, communicate recommendations, and drive follow-up.
Manage timelines, expectations, and deliverables across multiple clients.
Build trust with founders, executives, and client stakeholders.
Address challenges directly, professionally, and with sound judgment.
Writing and Content
Write and edit short-form and long-form content across channels and formats.
Develop messaging frameworks, narratives, talking points, and toolkits.
Uphold high standards for clarity, authenticity, and detail in all deliverables.
Review and improve work from other team members before client delivery.
Team Development and Operations
Help identify hiring needs and evaluate candidates as the firm grows.
Onboard, mentor, and develop junior and mid-level PR professionals.
Set clear expectations, provide actionable feedback, and create templates/processes for quality, speed, and consistency.
Build a culture focused on initiative, improvement, and exceptional service.
Qualifications
8–12 years of communications or PR experience.
Direct experience with healthcare, biotech, or B2B SaaS companies.
Proven success developing and executing strategies for major announcements and product launches.
Established media network and track record placing coverage in top-tier publications.
Experience managing a team of at least five and explaining how you coach and hold them accountable.
Exceptional writer capable of both short- and long-form content.
Comfortable advising senior leaders and managing multiple accounts.
Thrives in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial, high-autonomy role.
Preferred:
Experience supporting clients through IPOs, acquisitions, financings, or high-profile events.
Media relationships in healthcare, biotech, and B2B SaaS.
Connections with VCs or PE firms in relevant sectors.
Experience building/scaling a communications agency or team.
Examples of coverage, strategies, or materials you personally developed.
Cultural Fit
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being a trusted advisor to leaders, wants meaningful ownership, finds energy in building and motivating teams, and flourishes in high-expectation, rapid environments. If you naturally take initiative, deliver beyond the minimum, and want to shape the processes and culture of a growing firm, you’ll thrive here.
Conversely, this may not be the right role if you prefer strategy over execution, need high predictability in working hours, avoid direct feedback, favor established processes over building new ones, or are a perfectionist at the expense of timely outcomes.
Team Culture
Speed: Deliver excellent work quickly to keep pace with news cycles and client needs.
Ownership: Take personal responsibility for results, learning from mistakes, and improving systems.
Exceptional Service: Demonstrate care, preparation, and follow-through in all interactions.
Why Join?
As Account Director, you’ll set the foundation for how the firm operates and grows. You’ll own client strategy, develop teams, secure high-impact coverage, and help design scalable processes. This is an opportunity for real ownership, professional growth, and direct impact as the company expands.
Compensation and Benefits
Competitive salary, commensurate with experience
Performance bonus based on client retention and business development
